About Me

So, a little about me.

I was born in 1963 (seems easier to quote a year than try to keep remem­ber­ing to change the age), I stud­ied engin­eer­ing and star­ted work with a large mul­tina­tional engin­eer­ing design and con­struc­tion com­pany in 1983, we designed and built major indus­trial plant for cli­ents all over the world from our offices in the UK.

With them I worked on the design of pro­jects for India, Brazil, South Korea and Aus­tralia and had the won­der­ful exper­i­ence of spend­ing exten­ded time in each of the coun­tries dur­ing the con­struc­tion and com­mis­sion­ing of all of the plants, in the end I lived in Brazil for 5 months, India for a month, South Korea for a total of around 3.5 years over a 7 year period, and 3 years in Aus­tralia between 1993 and 96 before decid­ing to move to live and work in Australia.

I have now been based in Aus­tralia since Janu­ary 1998 and I have worked in Queens­land, NSW and cur­rently live and work in Perth, West­ern Aus­tralia, where I am cur­rently engin­eer­ing man­ager with the off shore oil and gas divi­sion in the local office of the same company.

With all of my travel and liv­ing in vari­ous coun­tries I have developed a fas­cin­a­tion with the inter­per­sonal side of the man­age­ment of this kind of work and that is some­thing I am hop­ing to explore through post­ings and dis­cus­sions on this blog.
